Getting payments from ACC if you are injured
You might be able to get weekly compensation payments if your injury is covered by ACC.
If you get injured, you can apply to ACC for financial support. If ACC accepts your application, they will pay up to 80 percent of your income as weekly compensation if you’re unable to work or do your usual duties because of your injury.
If you have a permanent injury, you can apply for financial support in the form of a one-off payment or ongoing payments.
To get support from ACC, you’ll need to see your doctor. If your doctor thinks you need time off work, they will:
send a medical certificate to ACC
fill out an ACC claim form for you (if another health professional, such as a physiotherapist, hasn’t already done this for you).
ACC will let you know if your application has been accepted. It is hard to estimate how long it will take ACC to process your application, as they have to get information from a range of people including yourself, your doctor, your employer, and Inland Revenue.
