Disability allowances and benefits
If you can’t work, or you work reduced hours, because of an injury, illness, or impairment, you might be able to get some financial help.
Organisations such as Disability Support Services, Work and Income, and ACC can provide different types of financial support depending on your circumstances. Veterans Affairs provide financial support to people who have served in the New Zealand Defence force and meet certain criteria.
If you have never applied for assistance from Work and Income before, don’t worry as we have information to guide you through the process as well as setting up your myMSD account.
If you’re looking to access services funded by Disability Support Services, you will need to have a needs assessment done. Your first step will be to contact your local Needs Assessment and Service Coordination (NASC). Click here for more about needs assessments for government funded support.
