Queens Gardens Nelson
Gorgeous gardens and accessible picnic tables make Queens Gardens the place to be

Visit this park in central Nelson, opened in 1892.
It was designed around part of the Maitai River called the Eel Pond, used as a food gathering place for Māori before colonial inhabitants.
The two wheelchair-accessible picnic tables are situated by the pond, they are surrounded by asphalt and easily accessible.
Queens Gardens is a beautiful example of a classical Victorian ornamental park. Centrally located information panels placed around the garden reveal its history. The gardens are part of a designated Historic Places Trust precinct.
