Whether you've been working on getting into a job, or have taken a break and want to get back into a career, a new world of learning is now available to you!

For free! And right now, there are even prizes!

First up - prizes - Digital Passport

prepare for your future with AI skills text on black backgroundThis free skills platform is run by the Ministry of Social Development to offer free learning in digital areas. The team realised that some key skills that employers were looking for, could be quite challenging to pick up if you're not already on the job. So they made Digital Passport. A place where you can learn all kinds of skills for working in a techy world, at your pace.

It'll be super helpful to you if you want to be comfortable using...

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) like ChatGPT and ones you'll now find in Microsoft, Apple and other platforms (even Spotify has an AI now)
  • Social media
  • Video/image editing
  • Email and the Microsoft suite
  • Trello and work planning platforms
  • Google Suite (Google docs)
  • Social media advertising

And to celebrate their new AI learning courses, they're currently running a competition. All you have to do is sign up and complete the three courses and you could win a new laptop.

You'll start your course with a slightly mind-blowing intro from 'Ruby'. She introduces herself as AI and it's not til that moment that you might realise her mouth doesn't quite match the words. But it's pretty amazing and worth signing up to check it out.

We've tested it and definitely recommend taking a look at this course. It's set up for a few different learning styles (listening, reading, watching) and has a well laid out progression path that give you a sense of achievement as you progress.

Training to be a carer through MySkill

This course is run through the New Zealand Health Group, an organisation that also run Explore and HealthCare NZ.  This means they have a lot of experience in carer support and are quite invested in growing great carers for our disability community.

The courses can be online or in-person training, and they also offer job placement support as a support worker out the other end!

The MySkill team are part of the Ministry of Social Development industry partnerships programme.
