Firstport is the go-to website for anyone searching for disability information, advice, and support in New Zealand – and now it’s better than ever.
Since launching Firstport back in 2017, we’ve received lots of feedback on what works and what doesn’t. We’ve taken all this onboard and have launched a completely refreshed website; created with input and guidance from New Zealand’s disability community.

New menu and page layout
We’ve changed the way information on Firstport is organised to make it easier to find what you’re looking for. Our information pages are grouped into clear sections such as financial support, equipment, and transport so you can quickly go to the section you need.
You can also now easily access our menu from wherever you are on the website, just select the menu button () and the menu will load up instantly. If you want to close the menu, just press the X and you’ll be taken back to the page you were on.
Built-in page reader
Every information page and article on Firstport now features a built-in page reader for people who prefer listening instead of reading. All you need to do is press play and the reader will start.
Improved search
We’ve made changes to search on Firstport to make more useful. The search engine now delivers more accurate results, and you can filter by different categories including information, events, news, and support services.
Improved support services, equipment supplier, and accessible places databases
Our support services and accessible places databases have been updated to be more useful and easier to use. Each listing features information about the organisation or place, the services they offer, and all their contact details.
