Visitor reviews:

Connie

My partner had an accident at work and the zoo provided wheelchairs for easier access around the zoo. We went round the entire zoo and the wheelchair access was awesome. There a lot of places to choose to eat at, and the scenery is excellent.

Would say to others: A must go - a 10/10 for family outings. Everything you need for an enjoyable visit, it is definitely worth every penny spent.

Top highlight: The excellent unobstructed views of the animals.

How accessibility features improve the visit: We didn't miss seeing any of the animals up close at all. The staff were so helpful and engaging.

My son has ASD and can't handle crowds. He adores animals, especially lizards and insects. We explored all the different zones.

Would say to others: Take your time and enjoy it!

Top highlight: Seeing a Kaka in real life! It was in an aviary and only two metres away, not in a cage.

How accessibility features improve the visit: Accessible to me means a place he feels safe - the zoo is so large and spread out that we didn't need to feel trapped with others.

The venue says...

Approximately 90% of Auckland Zoo is accessible by wheelchair, and 70% by mobility scooter. A map explaining inaccessible areas is available free of charge on request from the cashiers or at the Zoo's Information Centre near the main entrance.
